RULE CHANGE - PLEASE TAKE NOTE!

Subject: 600 Racing | July 2008 Banned for Life Letter

INEX

July 21, 2008

To the 600 Racing and INEX racers,

July marks the mid-point of the 2008 racing season. Everyone here at 600 Racing, INEX and speedway Motorsports hope that you are having a fantastic racing season. Despite some challenging economic conditions, the 600 Racing programs are once again experiencing wonderful growth throughout the world. As a matter of fact, due to the fun and low cost nature of the 600 Racing program, we are seeing a number of new competitors racing with us that at one time raced late model and other types of racing vehicles.

600 Racing and INEX continually monitor the health of our program through internal discussions, external observations and discussions with our racers. In the normal course of these actions we periodically recognize areas within our program that can be strengthened and/or modified. One good example of an area within our program that has been recently strengthened is the 600 Racing Engine Shop. This state of the art facility has strengthened our program and at the same time saved our racers money on their engine rebuilds.

In May 2008, 600 Racing and INEX announced several changes to the INEX rulebook. Since that time, we have had a number of internal discussions and discussions with racers regarding the penalty for a racer being in violation of the shock, engine seal, tire soaking, 1200cc engine and traction control rules. Despite the severity of these five rules infractions, we at 600 Racing and INEX have come to realize that banning a racer for life from the 600 Racing program should not be necessary for a racer to realize their mistake and to prevent them from repeating the infraction. As a result, 600 Racing and INEX are removing the “Banned for Life” penalty for a first time offender of these rules. This penalty will be replaced with a one year suspension with escalations of penalties up to being banned for life from the 600 Racing and INEX program for racers being caught in violation of these rules on multiple occasions. In addition, the appeal fee for these violations will be reduced to $1,000 from $5,000. These modifications will be retroacted to May 18th, the date the rule change was originally implemented.

600 Racing, INEX and Speedway Motorsports are committed to providing our racers with a fun and affordable racing environment and growing the program into the future.

Best of luck during the remainder of your season and do not forget about the National events that are just around the corner,

TECH ITEM - Revision of the Rules

Derek Hales would like to inform all drivers of the following:-

'' I have, today, received a revision to the rules regarding the lifetime ban on the cranking compression regarding 1200cc engines.
I will try and get a copy of the letter from INEX to you by including it in the next drivers newsletter.''

To : All Legends Competitors, INEX Inspectors & 600 Racing Inc. Dealers.
From : INEX

The lifetime ban penalty will be removed from the 1200 cranking compression rule.  The cranking compression rule will be enforced as written in the current (2008) INEX rulebook, using 165 as the maximum cranking compression.
The other rules addressed in the rule change letter (dated May 1st 2008) will remain as written in the letter.  Being found in violation of the tampered shock, tire softness, tampered engvine seal and traction control rules will still carry the lifetime ban from all INEX sanctioned events.
Also, The $50,000 appeal fee (on above listed items) will be reduced to $5,000.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION,
INEX
